Politics and Children

This is an excellent piece written by three girls from 5 Pluto.

POLITICS AND CHILDREN
So, the title for today's post is "POLITICS AND CHILDREN". We really waited a long time for this and today we are going to spill it all out. Firstly, as you all know politics in Malaysia is a bit "unstable" as our mum said and we totally agree with it. First things first, we are really curious on why do some adults talk about politics with their own children we mean Hey WAKE UP! Talk it with someone else okay? Do you adults realise how it affects your children's thinking? For us it affects us. Sometimes our mum and dad with their family members will talk about politics but they would never talk about it in front of their children. They would talk about it elsewhere.
Secondly, some of our friends talk about politics at class or at school. Some of our friends didn't talk to us because they say WE ARE LOSER!!! Really we don't think politics should be talked at school because school is supposed to be a safe zone! Some of our friends did not talk to each other because they are not from the same political group.  Some pupils even fight among themselves because they are not from the same political group. We cannot understand how this can happen. Our question is "WHY DO CHILDREN TALK ABOUT POLITICS AT SCHOOL?" As for you our dear friends, we really have a simple answer BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS OFTEN TALK ABOUT IT AT HOME SO THEIR CHILDREN WILL TEND TO FOLLOW THEM." That's our answer.
We really think that children will be kept away from politics and let them choose which political branch they think is the best when they are all grown up. We really hope that one day Malaysian adults can be more open-minded and can take other people's point of views. And we really hope that some Malaysian adults especially the MUSLIMS can teach their children as not to taunt or tease their leader.

Sincerely, Three 11-year old girls….
